Girl's Day Out

A couple of months ago Talena and I were chatting online about how we needed something to look forward to.  I think everyone needs something in the near future to look forward to all the time, hence why I celebrate a lot of random holidays.  We came up with the idea to both take a day off from work and have a girly day together.  We chose last Monday (Oct. 8th, I tend to post everything a week late) which was perfect.  I had worked a couple of long weeks/weekends, so the break was very much needed.

First we met up for a late breakfast at Talena's place.  She made pumpkin waffles, which were amazing.
Masters in the kitchen, or at least we pretend to be.
After breakfast, we headed up to Park City.  It tends to be the go to getaway in these parts, since it is so close, but feels far away.  Talena and I headed to Main Street and perused art galleries, gift shops and bookstores.  Most of our day involved walking and talking, two things we are very good at.

Me, Talena and Franz the bear.

Talena at a photography exhibit.

Admiring the moose painting.

There were pianos out on the street for anyone to play.
Talena displayed her great talents while I threw change
at her.  Ok, I really didn't, but I should have!

This piano is just begging to be played.

Talena made a new friend.

After exploring downtown Park City, we traveled (a few streets) to one of the ski resorts.  Here we decided to walk and talk some more among the pretty fall leaves.  I know I've already posted pictures of fall leaves, but really, you can never have enough pictures of autumn, that's my motto.  Well one of my mottos, that would be weird to be my only motto in life.
Pretty
Talena and I found a tree that matched both of our hair colors and found
that important enough to document.

We then found the ski lift and felt it was a good idea to hop on one
of the chairs.  It wasn't moving at the time; however, I shouldn't
have mentioned that so you could have thought that we were dare devils.

Our dangling feet.

Oooo...

Ahhh...
On our way out of Park City, we stopped at the outlet malls and did a little shopping.  We then ended our girly day by eating at Cafe Rio.  All good days end with Cafe Rio, I'm pretty sure.

  1. Girl days are a must! My BFF Leena and I always go on girl days on our birthdays. (In May and October!) Your day looks like a blast! Wish I lived closer and that you and I could have girl's day! :) I love your leaves pictures - we don't have those vibrant colors down here yet, so I appreciate them! Keep 'em coming!

  2. Dad and I went to Park City that day too, but we didn't get to the outlet mall until 5:00. Sorry we missed you two beautiful girls! I was able to exchange my new leather coat, though, for one that fit! We then left and went home by way of Heber and had dinner there. Loves!

  3. Becky - Thanks! I saw on your blog of your girls day out with Leena for your birthday. Looked like you two had fun!

Mom - I heard you were up there, too bad we didn't see you. Maybe next time. :) Or next time, we could just go together. So glad to hear you got a coat that fits better!

Oh Crafty Trees, Oh Crafty Trees...

I've become a finals widow, if you will, meaning Danny is crazy busy trying to finish up the semester.  This has given me extra time to use my crafty skills to get our place Christmas ready.  My first creations were these little paper/foam trees.  I've seen a few variations online of this craft. I put my own little twist on it.  They are really easy to make, just takes some time. Here is what you need: Scrap paper Hot glue gun 1" Circle punch Foam cone (at most craft stores) Toothpicks Note:  You are going to go to the craft store to buy the little foam cone and you will see styrofoam glue and you will think to yourself that would be a good thing to buy for this project.  Don't!  I got the styrofoam glue and it didn't work at all.  Just go with your trusty glue gun, it won't let you down. I think it's pretty self-explanatory by looking at the picture.  You just punch circles out from the scrap paper.  Then hot glue th...

The End of the Road

There is a time when things fulfill their purpose and that is how I've been feeling with this blog of mine. When I started it, I needed my own little spot to share my thoughts and random stuff I found online. However, having two blogs has become excessive. It has been a good run (me and this little blog) and thanks for joining me. For now on, I will just be posting on my family blog . It's a private blog, but send me a message or a request if you would like to view it. Thanks to those who have taken the time to read my silly thoughts or look at pictures of my cute kiddo or some craft I made. It means a lot to me. Signing off, Jannifer

The Christmas Box

Remember how forever ago I said I would post a tutorial on how to fold these cute boxes.  Sigh, life is busy.  But I am here to fulfill my promise, even if it is a bit belated.  We had a Super Saturday at church with classes we could take.  My awesome friend, Becky, taught us how to create these, so I give her all the credit. What you need, paper, scissors, ruler pencil and some type of adhesive. 1.On the blank side of your paper draw an X from each corner, using a ruler. 2. Fold the bottom corner to the  center. 3. Fold the bottom corner one more  time up to the center. 4. Now you are  going to do the exact  two folds from steps 2 and 3 to the  opposing top corner, so your  paper will look like this. 5.  Unfold your paper and make the same folds to left and right corners that haven't been folded yet.  So once again, fold the point to the middle. 6.  Do a second fold to th...
