This Past Week

I haven't had a lot of time to blog lately.  Work has been crazy busy with the overtime piling up.  Such is life. I wanted to take a minute to share a few things that made me happy this past week, since another week is already upon us. First, I've been needing to go grocery shopping all week.  However, I just haven't had time.  I could send Danny, but that means half of our groceries would end up being sweets and Mountain Dew.  With my cooking creativity, I put together a few meals with the random stuff in our freezer and cupboards which turned out well.  It's the small things that make me feel successful. After a long day, Danny and I took a drive up the canyon because I needed to escape.  It was refreshing being in the mountain air and enjoying more of the fall season. While this pictures looks very summery, there was a plethora of changing leaves in the canyon. Danny and I (mainly me) decided we've been watching too much TV lately.  To combat screen ti

Happy First Day of Autumn!

In commemoration of the first day of Autumn, Danny and I traveled up Little Cottonwood Canyon to enjoy the changing leaves.  While the leave colors aren't quite to their peak, it was still gorgeous!  Nothing lifts my spirits after a long week like taking some nature time up in the canyon. In Other News... Honestly, I hate politics.  What I hate even more is social media and politics, blah.  However, I took this quiz to see who I agreed with more out of the presidential candidates.  The results are... 70% agreement with Romney and 69% with Obama.  Interesting. I found the quiz rather enlightening because it made me stop and think about how I really felt about the issues that our country is facing.   Also, the best article I read this whole week!  Oh man, I was dying laughing. Cutest moment of the day, my 4-year-old nephew Super R called me to tell me that he has learned how to ride his bike without training wheels this weekend.  Way to g

Jonnifer the Gnome bleeds blue.  He's going to cheer with me tonight, much to Danny's dismay.

The Flu and Gratitude

I've been reminded what a ravage beast the flu is these past few days.  These achy, feverish, purging past few days.  Since I've spent a lot of my time in my bed and laying on my couch and shuffling between the two, I have had a lot of time to ponder.  However, I have forgotten most of those ponderings, which I'm sure were brilliant ideas, because like I said, I was in a feverish state.  Now that I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, (in the end of the flu sort of way, not I'm walking towards a bright light sort of way) I have a few thank yous to share for those who got me through the past few crappy days. Thank you Netflix.  Bless your Netflix little heart for being my company.  I cannot give the same recognition to daytime television, though. Thank you Pinterest for giving me a homemade recipe for a bath to remove toxins from my body and heal me from my ailments.  I don't think the toxin removal bath really worked, but it did give me the excu

A Post to Help Me Feel Accomplished

It's almost been a week since I last blogged, but I really don't have anything too exciting to share.  It's been a busy week, to say the least.  Here are somethings I did my best to accomplish this past week... 1.  Planned three photo shoots in a mere 48 hours.  Ok, I had A LOT of help this one.   (Thanks Loni and Amelia!!!)  I was so relieved everything went well and was even more relieved to come home after long days of work to go to bed. 2.  My blog book came in the mail!!  Every couple of years I print my blog off in a book.  The latest book covers when I was dating and engaged to Danny.  It was so fun to edit and be reminded of fond memories. (Did I mention it is like 340 pages?  Yeah, I do take too many pictures, oh well.) 3.  Umm, a lot of laundry.  Ok, that isn't exciting. 4.  I had an adventure with Danny this afternoon to a childhood favorite of mine... Mueller Park!  It was beautiful up there!  5.  Also, my favorite news article from

Autumn is in the Air... and a Book Review

There is something different this year, the year of 2012, than any other year of my entire life.  Every year, with the closing and farewell of August I have felt sorrow.  I've always loved the long summer days and warm evenings.  The road trips and multitudes of hikes.  The picnics and fireworks and all things summer.  However, the past couple of weeks while I've been prepping myself to not get depressed with the end of summer something bizarre has occurred...I've kind of been looking forward to it.  What?  Does this mean I'm getting old?  It could have to do with the fact that our swamp cooler cuts out when temperatures rise above 95 degrees.  Since we've had triple digits at least a dozen times this year, our house has been mighty toasty some evenings.  Or perhaps while I've been on some adventures this summer, I have a few more up my sleeve before a blanket of snow smothers us for months at a time here in Utah.  Upcoming adventures always do get me excited.
