Concerts, Hikes and Costumes

My oh my, am I behind when it comes to this little blog.  Not only have I not even mentioned the fun times of the week of Halloween, but also the crazy/busy/fun weekend before the week of Halloween.  So let's get started and play a little catch up.

The Crazy, Busy Weekend of Fun (Oct. 25 - 27)

Friday - The Fictionist and Imagine Dragons Concert

Friday night, Danny and I headed up to Ogden for the Imagine Dragons concert.  The last time we saw them, they were still considered a local band and the venue was free.  We were curious now that they are much more popular and filling huge auditoriums, how the concert would be.  They put on a great show, as did Fictionist, the opening band. We had a great, loud time.

Who knew so many cell phones could be such a pretty view?

Saturday - Roommate Reunions, Hikes, and Parties of the Birthday and Halloween sort

I got up Saturday morning and met up with some of my wonderful past roommates for a little roommate reunion.  Melissa, Rachel and I went on a hike or two up in the Uintas, chatting whole time. We had a late lunch with still, more chatting.  I loved every second of it.  Melissa and Rachel, you two are the best!

First we went to the waterfalls on the upper Provo River.  I visited here earlier this summer with Danny and my sis-in-law, Sarah.  It was just as lovely in the snow as it was in the summer sunshine.

Melissa, Rachel and Me!

Rachel and waterfalls!!

One of us managed to fall into the river (twice), but
let's not point fingers.
A soggy foot shot.
Next, we ventured up to Mirror Lake and took a walk on the trail around the lake.
Lovely, isn't it?

A little snow never stopped us!
Me and Rachel by Mirror Lake.  Melissa was so kind to offer to take
pictures that I missed getting a photo of her by the lake.  Next time,
Melissa, next time.
In the evening we dropped by our friends' Dave and Anna's house to celebrate Anna's birthday.  It was a potluck and I have to give a little shout out to Danny, who made a fruit salad while I was working on my Halloween costume.  After the birthday party, we went to my cousin Julia's Halloween party.  Julia has this creepy, old barn in her backyard, which was perfect for the party.  Julia's parties never disappoint, plus I was quite pleased with how Danny's and my costumes turned out.

Danny as the Brawny Man and me as a spill.  Note: Melissa, you were right,
the Brawny man no longer has facial hair.  I remedied this by just coloring
some on with a sharpie.
Julia as a ghost bunny and Jude as the Trix bunny.
Julia taking a swing at the creepiest pinata I had ever seen.
Sunday - Meetings, meetings and more meetings, of the Churchy sort

That's all I really have to say concerning Sunday.  It was fine, just busy.

  3. One of my favorite memories is a little weekend trip when my dad took me and some of my siblings to Mirror Lake. I'm glad I got to see your Halloween costumes; so clever.

Oh Crafty Trees, Oh Crafty Trees...

I've become a finals widow, if you will, meaning Danny is crazy busy trying to finish up the semester.  This has given me extra time to use my crafty skills to get our place Christmas ready.  My first creations were these little paper/foam trees.  I've seen a few variations online of this craft. I put my own little twist on it.  They are really easy to make, just takes some time. Here is what you need: Scrap paper Hot glue gun 1" Circle punch Foam cone (at most craft stores) Toothpicks Note:  You are going to go to the craft store to buy the little foam cone and you will see styrofoam glue and you will think to yourself that would be a good thing to buy for this project.  Don't!  I got the styrofoam glue and it didn't work at all.  Just go with your trusty glue gun, it won't let you down. I think it's pretty self-explanatory by looking at the picture.  You just punch circles out from the scrap paper.  Then hot glue th...

The End of the Road

There is a time when things fulfill their purpose and that is how I've been feeling with this blog of mine. When I started it, I needed my own little spot to share my thoughts and random stuff I found online. However, having two blogs has become excessive. It has been a good run (me and this little blog) and thanks for joining me. For now on, I will just be posting on my family blog . It's a private blog, but send me a message or a request if you would like to view it. Thanks to those who have taken the time to read my silly thoughts or look at pictures of my cute kiddo or some craft I made. It means a lot to me. Signing off, Jannifer

The Christmas Box

Remember how forever ago I said I would post a tutorial on how to fold these cute boxes.  Sigh, life is busy.  But I am here to fulfill my promise, even if it is a bit belated.  We had a Super Saturday at church with classes we could take.  My awesome friend, Becky, taught us how to create these, so I give her all the credit. What you need, paper, scissors, ruler pencil and some type of adhesive. 1.On the blank side of your paper draw an X from each corner, using a ruler. 2. Fold the bottom corner to the  center. 3. Fold the bottom corner one more  time up to the center. 4. Now you are  going to do the exact  two folds from steps 2 and 3 to the  opposing top corner, so your  paper will look like this. 5.  Unfold your paper and make the same folds to left and right corners that haven't been folded yet.  So once again, fold the point to the middle. 6.  Do a second fold to th...
