Joyous Things...

Hi Friends! So I've been working on my General Conference Gems post, where I list all my favorite quotes from conference, but it is taking me awhile.  So, to hold you over, I thought I would share some recent little things that have brought me great joy over the past little while.

First, my dad emailed me this comic strip this morning.  He said he thought I would appreciate it.  He knows me too well.  Oh the joys of being an introvert.

Second, I like to mention periodically on this blog about how the last time I went to England, my friend Talena and I stayed in Bamburgh castle and how it was the most amazing experience ever.  Well, this website lists castles, manor homes and other places of historical significance that you can stay in while on holiday.  Most of the places are in the UK, but there are a few in France and Italy as well.  Do you know how many hours of daydreaming this has brought me?!  I probably shouldn't say.  I do recommend listening to the Pride and Prejudice soundtrack while looking at all these different buildings.  It adds to the daydreaming.  Here are some of my favorites (and seriously, it was so hard to limit to just a few):

Clavell Tower, UK
La Célibataire, France

Swarkeston Pavilion, UK

Coop House, UK

Clytha Castle, UK

Fish Court at Hampton Court Palace, UK
Lastly, today is my half birthday.  (I know I'm weird and actually remember these sort of things.)  I celebrated by eating donuts for breakfast, which gave me a sugar headache, but whatever.  I don't actually expect anyone to take notice of my half birthday, because that seems a bit presumptuous.  It's just something funny I do. However, that husband of mine sent me this, as seen below.  Such a sweet, funny man, he is.

  1. You two are such a cute couple. I don't think David would ever remember my half birthday, and neither would I. But I just counted and mine is 4 days before Danny's real birthday!
So how much do those castles run? Sounds like a great place to spend our holiday!

Oh Crafty Trees, Oh Crafty Trees...

I've become a finals widow, if you will, meaning Danny is crazy busy trying to finish up the semester.  This has given me extra time to use my crafty skills to get our place Christmas ready.  My first creations were these little paper/foam trees.  I've seen a few variations online of this craft. I put my own little twist on it.  They are really easy to make, just takes some time. Here is what you need: Scrap paper Hot glue gun 1" Circle punch Foam cone (at most craft stores) Toothpicks Note:  You are going to go to the craft store to buy the little foam cone and you will see styrofoam glue and you will think to yourself that would be a good thing to buy for this project.  Don't!  I got the styrofoam glue and it didn't work at all.  Just go with your trusty glue gun, it won't let you down. I think it's pretty self-explanatory by looking at the picture.  You just punch circles out from the scrap paper.  Then hot glue th...

The End of the Road

There is a time when things fulfill their purpose and that is how I've been feeling with this blog of mine. When I started it, I needed my own little spot to share my thoughts and random stuff I found online. However, having two blogs has become excessive. It has been a good run (me and this little blog) and thanks for joining me. For now on, I will just be posting on my family blog . It's a private blog, but send me a message or a request if you would like to view it. Thanks to those who have taken the time to read my silly thoughts or look at pictures of my cute kiddo or some craft I made. It means a lot to me. Signing off, Jannifer

Things that brought me joy this week

This past week was Melina's birthday!  Since she lives far away, Talena and I put together a hula party in a box and mailed it to her.  We found all of these treasures at the dollar section at the front of Target.  My favorite moment was when we heard a lady gripe about how the discount section was full of a bunch of useless stuff that no one would buy.  At that very moment we turned the corner, with our hand basket full of awesome stuff we had found.  We just smiled. The party supplies The party agenda I was having a bit of a low evening and Danny suggested we go get my latest craving Sonic blasts.   (Ice cream + candy + whipped cream.)  I know you aren't supposed to feed sorrows with food, but this particular evening I made an exception.  Whoever made that Sonic blast was heaven sent.  It had more Reese's peanut butter cups than actual ice cream.  It's like they sensed my heavy heart and tried to heal it with choc...
