Birthday Zebras, Food Flags and Funny People

Last week I went to my friend, Megan's birthday, which was such a blast.  It included delicious eats and a petting zoo.  Just so you know, ohhing and ahhing over cute animals is not just for kids.  Danny couldn't make the party because he is in the middle of writing a score for a play his friend is directing. (I know, my husband is cool.) I was planning on driving up to the shindig, but right before the party, I realized I've lost some social skills or should I say outgoing skills since marriage. So I called my friend Amy to see if she wanted to drive together. I think I tried to play it cool and used some lame excuse about saving gas by driving together, but then I told her the truth about not knowing how to be outgoing anymore around people I don't know.  Amy laughed and said she would give me a ride and I'm so glad she did.  We had such a good chat on our drive to and from the party.  Anyway, here are some pics from the party. (They aren't the best quality since I took them with my phone.)

You guys, I fed a zebra!!  Ok, I already posted this on Instagram, but
it was a very defining moment in my life.

A little goat.

This goat was my favorite.  It was incredibly cute and followed me around.

There was a bison!  I didn't pet him, even though I was told we could.
Too many signs at Yellowstone about being gored has taught me otherwise.

Steve and Laura with the donkey.

My party favor, green chicken eggs.

Megan by her blazing birthday cake.

Me, Megan, Amy and Laura.  I always found girl's camp bonding as a
teen.  However It is even more bonding when you plan it with some
amazing women, like these ladies.

Also, I found this article incredibly cool and creative. It shows flags made out of the food from that country.  Too bad in America we are known for hot dogs.  Every other country has nice, classy food. Talena and I were discussing this fact and we tried really hard to think of classy food that is American, but we had no such luck.  We are the greasy, fast food country of the world.  We should do something about that.

Lastly, I saw this article this morning and it made me chuckle.  I know I said "funny people" in the title of the post, but I really should have said dumb people.  These travel complaints will leave you shaking your head.  Enjoy!

  1. That zebra is so cute.
I love those flags! I think they could have done something with apple pie for the American Flag, but it would have been harder, so they took the easy way out and did the hot dogs.

  2. Oh, I forgot to ask, did you have ham with those green eggs?

Oh Crafty Trees, Oh Crafty Trees...

I've become a finals widow, if you will, meaning Danny is crazy busy trying to finish up the semester.  This has given me extra time to use my crafty skills to get our place Christmas ready.  My first creations were these little paper/foam trees.  I've seen a few variations online of this craft. I put my own little twist on it.  They are really easy to make, just takes some time. Here is what you need: Scrap paper Hot glue gun 1" Circle punch Foam cone (at most craft stores) Toothpicks Note:  You are going to go to the craft store to buy the little foam cone and you will see styrofoam glue and you will think to yourself that would be a good thing to buy for this project.  Don't!  I got the styrofoam glue and it didn't work at all.  Just go with your trusty glue gun, it won't let you down. I think it's pretty self-explanatory by looking at the picture.  You just punch circles out from the scrap paper.  Then hot glue th...

The End of the Road

There is a time when things fulfill their purpose and that is how I've been feeling with this blog of mine. When I started it, I needed my own little spot to share my thoughts and random stuff I found online. However, having two blogs has become excessive. It has been a good run (me and this little blog) and thanks for joining me. For now on, I will just be posting on my family blog . It's a private blog, but send me a message or a request if you would like to view it. Thanks to those who have taken the time to read my silly thoughts or look at pictures of my cute kiddo or some craft I made. It means a lot to me. Signing off, Jannifer

Things that brought me joy this week

This past week was Melina's birthday!  Since she lives far away, Talena and I put together a hula party in a box and mailed it to her.  We found all of these treasures at the dollar section at the front of Target.  My favorite moment was when we heard a lady gripe about how the discount section was full of a bunch of useless stuff that no one would buy.  At that very moment we turned the corner, with our hand basket full of awesome stuff we had found.  We just smiled. The party supplies The party agenda I was having a bit of a low evening and Danny suggested we go get my latest craving Sonic blasts.   (Ice cream + candy + whipped cream.)  I know you aren't supposed to feed sorrows with food, but this particular evening I made an exception.  Whoever made that Sonic blast was heaven sent.  It had more Reese's peanut butter cups than actual ice cream.  It's like they sensed my heavy heart and tried to heal it with choc...
