Happy Halloween!

I hope everyone had a fabulous Halloween.  Our festivities began on Saturday with the annual trunk or treat which was held in our church parking lot.  The kids were adorable and they thought they were so clever when they visited our car more than once.  I recognized their multiple visits, (the giggles and the fact that I know who they are gave them away), but honestly I'd rather empty my candy bowl in their little trick or treat bags than have it back at my house tempting me, which would just end in a sugar coma.

For trunk or treat, Danny went as a ninja and I went as
a witch.  I was a big fan of those socks I found on clearance.
For our primary class I made (gluten free) ghost and pumpkin shaped rice crispy treats dipped in white chocolate. I thought they turned out well.  I did learn when you add food coloring, the chocolate isn't as smooth, at least the kind I bought.


These were delicious and I still have extras if anyone wants some.
On the actual day of Halloween, Danny and I had a chill evening.  We enjoyed a delightful meal provided by Noodles and Co. (given that we paid for it) and watched "Pirates of the Caribbean".  What can I say, we lead exciting lives.

    Those are such cute treats! I did learn recently that you have to use the oil based water colors to add to chocolate, the water based (which is the more typical kind) makes it harden. You can get the oil based kind at Micheal's I think. I am glad you had a great Halloween.

    We were glad to get rid of all of our candy too. (Well almost all of it. Grampa is enjoying the few leftover peanut M&Ms and the sticks of licorice.)

Oh Crafty Trees, Oh Crafty Trees...

I've become a finals widow, if you will, meaning Danny is crazy busy trying to finish up the semester.  This has given me extra time to use my crafty skills to get our place Christmas ready.  My first creations were these little paper/foam trees.  I've seen a few variations online of this craft. I put my own little twist on it.  They are really easy to make, just takes some time. Here is what you need: Scrap paper Hot glue gun 1" Circle punch Foam cone (at most craft stores) Toothpicks Note:  You are going to go to the craft store to buy the little foam cone and you will see styrofoam glue and you will think to yourself that would be a good thing to buy for this project.  Don't!  I got the styrofoam glue and it didn't work at all.  Just go with your trusty glue gun, it won't let you down. The End of the Road

There is a time when things fulfill their purpose and that is how I've been feeling with this blog of mine. When I started it, I needed my own little spot to share my thoughts and random stuff I found online. However, having two blogs has become excessive. It has been a good run (me and this little blog) and thanks for joining me. For now on, I will just be posting on my family blog . Things that brought me joy this week

This past week was Melina's birthday!  Since she lives far away, Talena and I put together a hula party in a box and mailed it to her.  We found all of these treasures at the dollar section at the front of Target.  My favorite moment was when we heard a lady gripe about how the discount section was full of a bunch of useless stuff that no one would buy.  At that very moment we turned the corner, with our hand basket full of awesome stuff we had found.  We just smiled.
