11-11-11

Remember last Friday when all those elevens in a row was a pretty cool sight.  While at work, I made sure to watch the clock and 11:11am to make a wish.  (I can't tell you what that wish was though, I want it to come true.)  That evening Talena and I got together, because we are funnier together than apart and planned a way to commemorate the many elevens.  We came up with the genius idea to build an 11 level tower with 111 plastic cups.  I think the most humorous moment of the evening was when we were are the grocery store and our funny cashier was ringing up our purchase.  He asked us what all the cups were for.  I'm not very good at lying so I said, "To build a tower."  He laughed and said, "So that is what my life would be like without alcohol."  That got us all laughing, of course he was just teasing.  And I would like to add, yes his life could be this awesome without alcohol, but either way, he is still our favorite cashier.

Talena and I found building an eleven story tower with cups a bit tricky.  It took a few tries, but we finally succeeded.

One of our attempts...

And it all came tumbling down.

Trying again.

Getting closer!

Success!!

The Mighty Tower of 11-11-11

Back view.
After our tower building accomplishment, Danny joined us and we played some speed scrabble.  At 11:11pm, we said 11 things we liked about each other, which was very tender.  It was a very entertaining evening.  Also, what is a day of commemoration without treats!?  We had refreshments of twizzlers and twix, because it just made sense.

  4. Jannifer, you are too cute, or should I say 11-11-11 cute? I especially love your choice of treats. You so need to be a cub scout leader; they would really appreciate an 11 tower.

Oh Crafty Trees, Oh Crafty Trees...

I've become a finals widow, if you will, meaning Danny is crazy busy trying to finish up the semester.  This has given me extra time to use my crafty skills to get our place Christmas ready.  My first creations were these little paper/foam trees.  I've seen a few variations online of this craft. I put my own little twist on it.  They are really easy to make, just takes some time. Here is what you need: Scrap paper Hot glue gun 1" Circle punch Foam cone (at most craft stores) Toothpicks Note:  You are going to go to the craft store to buy the little foam cone and you will see styrofoam glue and you will think to yourself that would be a good thing to buy for this project.  Don't!  I got the styrofoam glue and it didn't work at all.  Just go with your trusty glue gun, it won't let you down. I think it's pretty self-explanatory by looking at the picture.  You just punch circles out from the scrap paper.  Then hot glue th...

Birthday Week!

This week is my birthday week, or should I say birth week.  However that sounds too much like birthing is occurring and that is not the case.  (Don't get any ideas, Danny and I have only been married for 5.5 months.)  Anyway, I firmly believe in celebrating birthdays for the whole week, because why not? Talena and I have a tradition each year that is the kick off for my birthday celebration.  You see, Talena and I were born 12 days apart.  On the midpoint day between our birthdays we go out to dinner to celebrate.  We always try to go some where we have never been before.  This year we went to the Citrus Grill, which was very delicious.  (Special thanks to Eliza for recommending the place.)  We had fun dining, laughing and sharing secrets, because that is what girls do. My dinner...doesn't it just make your mouth water. Talena Balena and Me. PS  We did have a funny little mishap with the dessert.  We got strawbe...

Half Birthdays are for Celebrating, part 2

I know what you are thinking, "Jannifer, do you really need to have two posts about your half birthday?"  The answer is yes, because it just made sense to split the post in half considering the topic.  So during the day at work on the day of celebrations, I found I had to watch hours of HR videos which needed very little attention to understand.   (That's a nice way to say they were really boring.)  So with my other half of wandering attention I decided to start searching YouTube for some new tunes.  Especially since I remember I still had a partial Amazon gift card that I could buy some music with.  I turned to some of my wise music friends who were online for their suggests.  They led me to some sweet songs which are now part of my collection.  A little half birthday gift to me and since I like to be giving, I shall share some of their suggestions with you. Suggestion from Talena... Suggestions from Eliza... Suggestions from J...
