A Walk in the Park

Last Saturday was gorgeous weather, so Danny and I went on a walk in the park not too far from our home.  It is so nice being able to be outside and not have to wear a jacket or coat.  (I can't say the same for today, since it is frigid and rainy.)  Danny and I had fun sharing secrets with each other on our stroll. No really, that is what we did.  I had my trusty camera with me and took a few pictures as the sun was setting.  It was a beautiful evening.

The pond.  It is already starting to overflow and the runoff has just barely
begun.  I perceive flooding is going to occur this spring

This is my favorite picture from the evening.

  1. Beautiful pictures. Enjoy these times alone together because when you have kids, those times become rare.

  2. These are great shots of the setting sun. What park is it?

  3. I remember when there was a prison in the place where Sugarhouse Park is. I can't believe how much it's grown up in the past 50 years and how beautiful it's become. Maybe that's a commentary on how things and people can change over time. The irony is that they moved the prison out to the point of the mountain where it could be totally isolated. Now that area is full of homes, stores and businesses. The one thing that is constant is that everything changes. Enjoy your rambles together and sharing secrets. That's what builds a strong foundation for a good marriage.

Oh Crafty Trees, Oh Crafty Trees...

I've become a finals widow, if you will, meaning Danny is crazy busy trying to finish up the semester.  This has given me extra time to use my crafty skills to get our place Christmas ready.  My first creations were these little paper/foam trees.  I've seen a few variations online of this craft. I put my own little twist on it.  They are really easy to make, just takes some time. Here is what you need: Scrap paper Hot glue gun 1" Circle punch Foam cone (at most craft stores) Toothpicks Note:  You are going to go to the craft store to buy the little foam cone and you will see styrofoam glue and you will think to yourself that would be a good thing to buy for this project.  Don't!  I got the styrofoam glue and it didn't work at all.  Just go with your trusty glue gun, it won't let you down. I think it's pretty self-explanatory by looking at the picture.  You just punch circles out from the scrap paper.  Then hot glue th...

Birthday Week!

This week is my birthday week, or should I say birth week.  However that sounds too much like birthing is occurring and that is not the case.  (Don't get any ideas, Danny and I have only been married for 5.5 months.)  Anyway, I firmly believe in celebrating birthdays for the whole week, because why not? Talena and I have a tradition each year that is the kick off for my birthday celebration.  You see, Talena and I were born 12 days apart.  On the midpoint day between our birthdays we go out to dinner to celebrate.  We always try to go some where we have never been before.  This year we went to the Citrus Grill, which was very delicious.  (Special thanks to Eliza for recommending the place.)  We had fun dining, laughing and sharing secrets, because that is what girls do. My dinner...doesn't it just make your mouth water. Talena Balena and Me. PS  We did have a funny little mishap with the dessert.  We got strawbe...

Half Birthdays are for Celebrating, part 2

I know what you are thinking, "Jannifer, do you really need to have two posts about your half birthday?"  The answer is yes, because it just made sense to split the post in half considering the topic.  So during the day at work on the day of celebrations, I found I had to watch hours of HR videos which needed very little attention to understand.   (That's a nice way to say they were really boring.)  So with my other half of wandering attention I decided to start searching YouTube for some new tunes.  Especially since I remember I still had a partial Amazon gift card that I could buy some music with.  I turned to some of my wise music friends who were online for their suggests.  They led me to some sweet songs which are now part of my collection.  A little half birthday gift to me and since I like to be giving, I shall share some of their suggestions with you. Suggestion from Talena... Suggestions from Eliza... Suggestions from J...
