This past week, the husband and I made our way up to Hogle Zoo for the Zoo Lights display there during Christmastime. This is something I've wanted to do for awhile. Danny was kind enough to oblige. We learned much during our short time at the zoo.
Lesson 1: The Zoo=children, Christmas=excitement x sugar, thus meaning The Zoo + Christmas + Lights= hyped up children everywhere! (Plus, it was dark, so I had to watch out and make sure I didn't step on any kiddies.)
Lesson 2: Another equation: The Zoo + Christmas + Lights = picture happy, excitable moi. What can I say, I really like Christmas lights. At times I fit in with the giddy children.
Lesson 3: When they say Zoo Lights, they mean just that, lights. Very few animals were available to actually look at. I guess hibernation is a real thing. But animals made up of lights does smell better than the real deal.
Lesson 4: (This one was for Danny.) Yes, my fear of snakes is not pretend. Just my luck, one of the few places open was the reptile building. I realize there was thick glass between me and those loathsome creatures, but I still have to stay about 6 feet away, cringing the whole time, might I add.
Making friends with the electronic animals.
Getting ready to pull Santa's sleigh.
This display wins the Nostalgic Award.
Who doesn't love the lion water fountain? I submit, no one.
Frogs all aglow.
Not a smart move, bathing your young when you are electric.
Under the Sea, Under the Sea, Darling it's better, Down Where it's Wetter, Take it from Me...
Danny and I with the tiger and its all-seeing glowing eye.
Ta Da!
A real animal! The snow leopard.
A rodent living in luxury. That is if you consider the zoo luxury. We really were limited on the animals we saw.
Father Christmas!
Since this is the week of Christmas we only have a few more days to enjoy the lights. I have heard of a few more displays in the area that will definitely bring the Christmas spirit.
#1 Temple Square (of course) Free! Danny and I are still hoping to visit this one.
#2 Thanksgiving Point $8 a carload, I haven't been to this one yet, but I hear it is good. Plus I found a $2 off coupon for you, but it is only good for tomorrow.
#3 Spanish Oaks Golf Course in Spanish Fork $5 a carload, my brother and sister-in-law highly recommended this one.
