January on Instagram

Better late than never... Jan. 3rd - Found this gem in Danny's sister's family album. I have a major crush on him. Jan. 7th - The joys of peek-a-boo. Jan. 12th - Chilling in my gnome socks from Talena and eating crackers and frosting while Danny puts the baby to bed = bliss. Jan. 14th - This face. How will I ever say no?! Jan. 17th - Trying solids for the first time. He seemed to like the rice cereal. Jan. 19th - Just enjoying the spring like weather, which has been the case for most of this winter. Jan. 20th - Art comes in many forms. This particular night it came in the form of berries and pineapple on a massive sugar cookie. And there was much rejoicing. Jan. 23rd - Spitting. All the time. Jan 26th - I take way too many pics of this boy sleeping, but look at how precious he is! This particular day he refused to take naps anywhere but my arms, but honestly it was sweet, even if it gave me a dead arm. Jan. 28th - My cousin gave me this ...

Happy Valentine's Day!!

6 Months!

Milestones We are making some head way with sleep. He will sleep in 4-6 hour chunks at night only waking up once or twice to be fed and he's going to bed earlier, around 9pm. (It used to be midnight and before that, 3am. The joys of having a baby with their days and nights switched.) This all only happens if we let him sleep in swing.  Baby H. has found his feet this month and likes to play with his cute little toes. He's been rolling over more, but lately he's more interested in trying to army crawl. He hasn't been able to travel too far, but it is pretty cute to see him try. He's had his first solid food. He is now an eater of rice cereal and has tried bananas. He's getting better at sitting up on his own. He's still a little wobbly and needs some support, but I think he will get it down soon. Stats from his 6 month appointment: Length - 24 inches (.07 percentile)  Weight - 13 lbs 12 oz (1.41 percentile) Head Circumference - 16.75 inches (...

A Broken Heart

I mentioned in my last post that one of my New Year's resolution was to do scripture study by topic instead of just reading straight through. I feel like sharing the little insight I had the other night, because I have a blog and I can. I found myself studying the topic of having a broken heart. I had started by looking up scriptures on the topic of being meek and a meandering scripture path led me to reading about a broken heart. In Mormonism (and perhaps other religions, I'm not sure), I think we hear the phrase " a broken heart and contrite spirit " quite often as something we should have. It has been explained to me in the past that it means to be obedient and repentant. As I was reading the other night, I kept thinking why did the Lord choose the term "broken heart?" When I read that, I think, "I don't want a broken heart, I've had one more than once in my life and it hurts!" Then a simple thought came to my mind, "What does ...

2015 Goals

Hey, January is almost over, so let's talk about goals and stuff. I've got to be honest, January always brings a small dose of anxiety for me. I distinctly remember thinking on January 5th "We are five days into the new year and I haven't done anything!" Now, I don't have these type of thoughts on February 5th or July 5th or October 5th, only in January. However, I believe goals are a good thing. Let's be honest, it has been a goal of mine just to write this post for over 2 weeks now, so time to get some goals, at least one, accomplished! First, let's see how 2014 went. 2014 Highlight Reel Road Trip to St. George (We always have a couple of those) The Announcement Some Bucket List Adventures Buying a new house and moving The arrival of the cutest baby in all the land Family Mountain Adventures and Festivities And every Instagram post full of baby pictures . 2014 was a really big year for me. Experiencing pregnancy for the f...

December on Instagram

Dec. 1st - Decorating the Christmas tree. Dec. 3rd - Wide open spaces. We went on a day trip to visit our dear friend Melissa. Dec. 4th - Melts my heart. Dec. 11th - Probably the only person in the world who can suck on my finger and I find it cute instead of repulsive. Dec. 17th - It instantly feels 10x more Christmasy when I have one of my  Mama's  candy cane cookies. Mmmmm . Dec. 18th - Out fighting croup, poor baby. Dec 19th - The doc said cold air would help clear up his croup cough, so it seemed like a good time to go look at Christmas lights. Dec. 19th - Christmas couple pic. Dec. 24th - The best thing about wintertime, it is completely acceptable to dress up my child as a woodland animal.  Dec. 25th - Baby H's first Christmas. It was a success!

5 Months!

Sometimes I have a hard time deciding what picture to post, so you get two. He was very serious during this little photo shoot of ours. Milestones Baby H actually started doing this more towards the end of last month, but he likes to stand (with help of course) a lot more these days. He used to last for like 2 seconds and then sit down, but now he will go up and down doing squats and thinks its fun. He's sleeping through the night more often, but only if he is sleeping in our room. This doesn't occur if he is sleeping in his room. First Christmas! He liked pulling at the ribbons on his presents and liked seeing family and playing with the toys he got. He's getting more dexterity with his hands. He can shake his own rattle, grab toys and reaches out to stroke our faces. I think he is understanding more what his hands are for. He reached out to me for the first time when he was sick, it was so sad and so sweet at the same time. He now reaches for his toys w...
