1 Year!

I had to put the sign far away from him, because he kept trying to knock it
over. He eventually succeeded and got chalk all over the duvet.

Here is the final installation of Baby H's monthly update. I don't think I can keep up with the monthly updates, plus the monthly pics have become incredibly difficult to take. This boy is a mover!

Milestones (I feel like so much has happened this past month!)
  • Now shakes his head "No" if he doesn't want to eat what I'm feeding him or if he is full.
  • Learned to push himself up to sitting position, which is making nap time a bit more difficult.
  • He figured out crawling and is a pro at it.
  • He can pull himself up to standing position.
  • He's also figured out how to take steps while holding on to things, like walking around the table. Looks like he's figuring out crawling and walking at the same time.
  • Got his two bottom teeth at the same time! He actually handled teething really well. There were only a couple of days he was uncomfortable.
  • Went to the Zoo, Canoeing, Camping (well cabin camping) for the first time.
  • Stats from his 1 year appointment:
    • Length - 26.5 inches  (.02 percentile)
    • Weight - 17 lbs 7 oz (3.47 percentile, he's out of the 1st percentile, way to go baby!)
    • Head Circumference - 17.75 inches (22.33 percentile)
Likes
  • Ham, Turkey, French Toast, Mash Potatoes, Apples, Grapes, Watermelon, Cantaloupe, Yogurt.
  • Other Babies! He yells and waves to get other little ones attention.
  • Stuffed animals. He gets really excited to see his stuffed monkey and his lion.
  • Paper and trying to eat it.
  • Mommy's shoes and trying to eat them.
  • The first 10 minutes of Disney's Robin Hood. I know, limit screen time, but this is the only way I can cut his fingernails.
  • Daddy's guitar pedals. So many buttons and lights to touch!
  • Swings
  • Playing with cousins
  • The bathroom scale. He likes to hit it to see the numbers light up.
  • Doors. If a door opens, he crawls towards it. The dishwasher, fridge, dryer, doors to rooms, etc.

Dislikes
  • He's doing a little better with solid food, but still prefers baby purées
  • Pears, Frosting, Lettuce
  • The high chair and his car seat. Now that he's mobile, being restrained angers him.

Tidbits
  • He's in 9 month clothes now.
  • We've had so much fun this past month! Danny's family was in town for the first part of the month and we had lots of get-together's with cousins. Hyrum had a lot of fun visiting with family. Then the next week, my sister and her daughter were in town and we had a lot of fun seeing them and going to the zoo and the dinosaur museum together.
  • Says "num, num num" when he sees anyone eating or if I'm feeding him. It's kind of my favorite.
  • The only time he really waves is at other babies. He isn't too bothered with adults.
  • He likes being surprised. If I jump out from behind something and startle him, he thinks it is hilarious. I know I'm just setting myself up for having him do the same to me in the future.
  • He really enjoyed his birthday party. He loved seeing cousins and opening presents. He tried a cupcake for the first time. He wasn't too sure about the frosting, but liked the cake part.

  1. I hope he has stopped eating your shoes. Reminds me of a story of a starving pioneer boy, but somehow, I don't think that is his problem.

Oh Crafty Trees, Oh Crafty Trees...

I've become a finals widow, if you will, meaning Danny is crazy busy trying to finish up the semester.  This has given me extra time to use my crafty skills to get our place Christmas ready.  My first creations were these little paper/foam trees.  I've seen a few variations online of this craft. I put my own little twist on it.  They are really easy to make, just takes some time. Here is what you need: Scrap paper Hot glue gun 1" Circle punch Foam cone (at most craft stores) Toothpicks Note:  You are going to go to the craft store to buy the little foam cone and you will see styrofoam glue and you will think to yourself that would be a good thing to buy for this project.  Don't!  I got the styrofoam glue and it didn't work at all.  Just go with your trusty glue gun, it won't let you down. I think it's pretty self-explanatory by looking at the picture.  You just punch circles out from the scrap paper.  Then hot glue th...

The End of the Road

There is a time when things fulfill their purpose and that is how I've been feeling with this blog of mine. When I started it, I needed my own little spot to share my thoughts and random stuff I found online. However, having two blogs has become excessive. It has been a good run (me and this little blog) and thanks for joining me. For now on, I will just be posting on my family blog . It's a private blog, but send me a message or a request if you would like to view it. Thanks to those who have taken the time to read my silly thoughts or look at pictures of my cute kiddo or some craft I made. It means a lot to me. Signing off, Jannifer

The Christmas Box

Remember how forever ago I said I would post a tutorial on how to fold these cute boxes.  Sigh, life is busy.  But I am here to fulfill my promise, even if it is a bit belated.  We had a Super Saturday at church with classes we could take.  My awesome friend, Becky, taught us how to create these, so I give her all the credit. What you need, paper, scissors, ruler pencil and some type of adhesive. 1.On the blank side of your paper draw an X from each corner, using a ruler. 2. Fold the bottom corner to the  center. 3. Fold the bottom corner one more  time up to the center. 4. Now you are  going to do the exact  two folds from steps 2 and 3 to the  opposing top corner, so your  paper will look like this. 5.  Unfold your paper and make the same folds to left and right corners that haven't been folded yet.  So once again, fold the point to the middle. 6.  Do a second fold to th...
