3 Months!

I realize he doesn't look too amused in this picture, but it was hard to get a
clear pic of this kid. He's so wiggly!

Milestones

  • Baby has got cooing down. We have some great conversations. He's rather animated and smiley. Trust me, it's adorable.
  • He's becoming stronger. He now likes to hold on to our thumbs and try to pull himself up to a sitting position. By the end of the month he was doing more then trying, he was succeeding.
  • He generally is sleeping more at night, Hallelujah! He seems to be sleeping in a couple 4(ish) hour chunks, which is so much better than screaming all night. However, that little night owl doesn't like to go to sleep before midnight. One night he slept for 6 hours straight, it was kind of the best night of my life. (Funny how lack of sleep changes your priorities.)
  • He's found his hands and likes to suck on them all the time.
  • First time being babysat away from his mom and dad. Thanks Noelle and Cal, he had a blast!

Likes

  • While he doesn't like getting his diaper changed, he strangely likes to hang out on his changing table. This is when he coos the most.
  • He's getting to the point where baby board books will hold his interest for a little bit and he likes looking at the pictures.
  • His preferred position is to be held face forward and for us to be moving at all times. If you think you can sit down for a break, think again, he demands otherwise.
  • Kicking! Kicking in the bath and acting surprised when he gets splashed, kicking on his play mat, kicking in his bouncer. Lots and lots of kicking.
  • Smiling! Smiling is his favorite.

Dislikes

  • Shots. The first week of this month was a rough one.
  • While he is sleeping at night a little better, he doesn't actually like to go to sleep. He fights it like crazy, silly boy. Doesn't he know sleep is glorious?
  • Anywhere that is not in someone's arms. (Except for the car, he likes that.) He's in this stage where he wants to be held all time. See above for the expectation of how he wants to be properly held.

A Few Tidbits

  • New Favorite Music: The Pride and Prejudice Soundtrack (it's soothing), Fictionist's new album and "The Sound of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkle. (We tried some other Simon and Garfunkle songs and they just didn't cut it.)
  • Favorite Hymns: "How Firm a Foundation" and "High on a Mountaintop"
  • Favorite Literary Works: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Little Masters baby book (He likes to look at the map of the Mississippi.) As well, the Little Critter board books.
  • Favorite Time of Day: Morning
  • Least Favorite time of Day: Evening aka Fussy Time!
  • Have I mentioned this baby is ticklish, because he is. He can't decide if he likes being tickled, though.

Showing off his little double chin.
Apparently, it is hilarious to push over Mr. Lion.
And we all fall down...

Oh Crafty Trees, Oh Crafty Trees...

I've become a finals widow, if you will, meaning Danny is crazy busy trying to finish up the semester.  This has given me extra time to use my crafty skills to get our place Christmas ready.  My first creations were these little paper/foam trees.  I've seen a few variations online of this craft. I put my own little twist on it.  They are really easy to make, just takes some time. Here is what you need: Scrap paper Hot glue gun 1" Circle punch Foam cone (at most craft stores) Toothpicks Note:  You are going to go to the craft store to buy the little foam cone and you will see styrofoam glue and you will think to yourself that would be a good thing to buy for this project.  Don't!  I got the styrofoam glue and it didn't work at all.  Just go with your trusty glue gun, it won't let you down. I think it's pretty self-explanatory by looking at the picture.  You just punch circles out from the scrap paper.  Then hot glue th...

Birthday Week!

This week is my birthday week, or should I say birth week.  However that sounds too much like birthing is occurring and that is not the case.  (Don't get any ideas, Danny and I have only been married for 5.5 months.)  Anyway, I firmly believe in celebrating birthdays for the whole week, because why not? Talena and I have a tradition each year that is the kick off for my birthday celebration.  You see, Talena and I were born 12 days apart.  On the midpoint day between our birthdays we go out to dinner to celebrate.  We always try to go some where we have never been before.  This year we went to the Citrus Grill, which was very delicious.  (Special thanks to Eliza for recommending the place.)  We had fun dining, laughing and sharing secrets, because that is what girls do. My dinner...doesn't it just make your mouth water. Talena Balena and Me. PS  We did have a funny little mishap with the dessert.  We got strawbe...

One of Those Nights

You know the time when you turn the corner too sharp and gouge one of your toes on the retro 70's border that lines your home and apparently you have really good blood circulation in your feet, because your toe starts bleeding profusely.  In an effort to stop the bleeding, you limp to the kitchen to grab a paper towel to clean up your poor toe only to track blood all over the carpet.  (But then, luckily the husband comes and helps clean up the blood trail, your sad, little toe and gets you a band-aid.)  So once you have recovered from your messy injury, your really nice husband makes you a smoothie to make you feel better, only for you to drip it down the front of you on one of your favorite shirts.  Yeah, it's been one of those nights.  Sigh. In other news, last week I went to the musical "Little Women" with Talena.  I wrote a review for the Utah Theater Bloggers Association, which you can read here .  It's been awhile since I've done any reviewin...
