Sometimes I still do fun things...

Friends, I know it has been forever. Apparently, growing a baby as well as prepping for his arrival and taking on the adventure of buying a house and still trying to keep up with work and every day life has caused me to become a little brain dead. Every time I sit down to blog, I just go blank. However, I will try tonight.

On the baby front, all is going well. Danny and I went to some birthing classes which we found very informative. My favorite part is when they taught the dads-to-be how to give back massages to relieve pain to the mommys-to-be. That was the best class. Baby likes to move and wiggle all the time. I also got a prescription from the doc, so the heartburn is way more bearable. The latest pregnancy symptom to combat is the swelling that comes with the heat. I had no idea how it can hurt! However, with ice packs and a nice sister and husband who will sometimes massage my ankles, we shall soldier on.

On the house front, we have found a house we really like and things are coming together really well. We haven't closed yet, but are getting close. Danny and I take turns of having stressed out moments, but luckily since we take turns at least one of us is calm in those moments. However, I'm really excited and if the house goes through (fingers crossed) I will share more about that later.

So with all these life changes around the corner, I've needed a few nights of fun to keep me sane. A week or two ago, my work had a family night at the new aquarium. Danny and I went and made a date night of it and had a lot of fun. I thought it was very cool.

Danny and the creepy eel.

Danny bonding with the stingray.

Though sharks freak me out, the shark tunnel was pretty cool.

What lurks above.

Me and Danny by some big fish that are from the Amazon.

I took this picture of the little yellow frog only to come home and look at
the picture and see there was a little green frog right next to him that I
had not noticed when we were there.

Penguins ready for bed.

Some orcas have no understanding when it comes
to personal space.

This caused me some concern.

For my second outing, I went with some friends to the Spiral Jetty. It has been on my list of places to visit for a long time, so I'm glad we actually made it happen. We went at dusk and it was quite pretty.

The Spiral Jetty

Picture taking.

The spiral jetty at first glance.

A closer look.

I came here for this? Just kidding, it is a fake jetty.

Taking credit for building the fake spiral jetty.

Taking a walk.

Another view of the spiral.

I loved it this much.

My sad, swollen feet and ankles on salt. Feet shots shall not stop just
because my feet are incredibly puffy these days.

Becky, Tina and Me.

The view of the lake was rather lovely.

Just when you thought you have seen enough the spiral jetty, one
more shot. It really was cool.

  1. IM SO HAPPY YOU WENT TO SPIRAL JETTY!!!! You are so lucky that it wasn't submerged when you went-- it was when I went, so I walked/swam my way to the center.

  2. That looks like a really neat aquarium. Where is it? I'm glad you could fulfil your dream of seeing the spiral jetty.

Oh Crafty Trees, Oh Crafty Trees...

I've become a finals widow, if you will, meaning Danny is crazy busy trying to finish up the semester.  This has given me extra time to use my crafty skills to get our place Christmas ready.  My first creations were these little paper/foam trees.  I've seen a few variations online of this craft. I put my own little twist on it.  They are really easy to make, just takes some time. Here is what you need: Scrap paper Hot glue gun 1" Circle punch Foam cone (at most craft stores) Toothpicks Note:  You are going to go to the craft store to buy the little foam cone and you will see styrofoam glue and you will think to yourself that would be a good thing to buy for this project.  Don't!  I got the styrofoam glue and it didn't work at all.  Just go with your trusty glue gun, it won't let you down. I think it's pretty self-explanatory by looking at the picture.  You just punch circles out from the scrap paper.  Then hot glue th...

Birthday Week!

This week is my birthday week, or should I say birth week.  However that sounds too much like birthing is occurring and that is not the case.  (Don't get any ideas, Danny and I have only been married for 5.5 months.)  Anyway, I firmly believe in celebrating birthdays for the whole week, because why not? Talena and I have a tradition each year that is the kick off for my birthday celebration.  You see, Talena and I were born 12 days apart.  On the midpoint day between our birthdays we go out to dinner to celebrate.  We always try to go some where we have never been before.  This year we went to the Citrus Grill, which was very delicious.  (Special thanks to Eliza for recommending the place.)  We had fun dining, laughing and sharing secrets, because that is what girls do. My dinner...doesn't it just make your mouth water. Talena Balena and Me. PS  We did have a funny little mishap with the dessert.  We got strawbe...

8 Months!

Smiling at Daddy Showing Mr. Lion who's boss. Milestones: New food this month: Carrots, Peas, Oatmeal, Prunes, Green beans, Squash He's really interested in making different noises and sounds with his mouth. I feel like he is watching us intently trying to figure it out. ("It" meaning talking.) He hasn't started to crawl yet, but he has gotten up on all fours. He finally rolled from his back to his stomach. He's been rolling the other way for months now. He doesn't like being on his stomach, so he avoided rolling to that position for a really long time. First St. Patrick's Day, because that's a big deal. Likes: At the beginning of the month, he liked to grab my face and bring it really close to his and yell. Apparently, it is a fun game. His favorite toys are his toy guitar from his Aunt Michele, his toy car from his Aunt Katie and Uncle Tim and he really likes his stackable rings. The vacuum. It is a fascinating specime...
