The Birthday

It's the last day of my birthday month, so maybe I should post about my birthday celebration. It was a party, to say the least. However, I have to admit turning 31 was harder than turning 30. I think I was mentally prepared for saying goodbye to my 20's. However, 31 has been a shock because apparently I'm just supposed to keep on getting older. Weird. Also it was fun/slightly scary to turn the age where I'll become a mom.

On My Birthday...

Danny definitely spoiled me this year. He actually gave me little presents each day of my birthday week, because he knows how I love to extend celebrating birthdays. The day before my birthday, we got take out and watched the movie The Book Thief which was very well done and as expected, very sad.

On the day of my birthday, I opened presents and then we went out to dinner at The Garden on Temple Square. Danny and I took a walk around temple square and then went to the the Salt Lake Temple. We found that evening was reserved for the 3 Young Single Adults stakes in Salt Lake. We joined in, but it was kind of funny sitting there with my pregnant belly in a YSA session. It was still a good evening.
I was happy.
I really wanted a floppy sun hat and Danny was kind enough to get it for me.
With my presents and husband man.
At the temple.
Pretty tulips.
Couple pic with the flowers.
Birthday Trip
I went on a weekend girl's trip with some of my good friends. We headed down to Vegas since it is close and warm. I'm not going to lie, I don't love Vegas. I told my friends this, so we had the goal to have a "classy" vacation while in Vegas, meaning we didn't spend a ton of time wandering on the strip. We ate at some of the most amazing restaurants, did some shopping, went to the pool (so I could wear my new sun hat) and went to a Cirque du Soleil show. It was a fun time.

Me and Rachel at Raising Canes. Thought all my
Southerners would like that.
The Bellagio fountain, the only thing worth seeing on the strip.
The gardens at the Bellagio.
Pretty foot shot.
Flower ladybugs.
Loved these calla lillies.
View of the palm trees at the pool.
The cute Italian restaurant we had lunch at.
Chocolate fountain at the Bellagio.
The Cirque du Soleil show we saw. It was intense!

Family Birthday Party
My cute sister Noelle made dinner and had a little birthday party for me at her house with her family and my parents. The food was amazing as was the company.
Playing outside with Baby C.
Me and Baby C anticipating the amazing birthday dinner Noelle made.
Opening presents. Noelle got me this cute shirt.
Love my family!
Baby C and my dad playing.
The most beautiful birthday cake of all. It was delicious.
Noelle, Danny and Me.
Look at all those birthday candles.

  1. Glad you had a fun birthday week Jannifer. I love your floppy sun hat. I'm glad you got to go to the temple, even if you did feel a little out of place. Did your sister make that cake? It is amazing!

Oh Crafty Trees, Oh Crafty Trees...

I've become a finals widow, if you will, meaning Danny is crazy busy trying to finish up the semester.  This has given me extra time to use my crafty skills to get our place Christmas ready.  My first creations were these little paper/foam trees.  I've seen a few variations online of this craft. I put my own little twist on it.  They are really easy to make, just takes some time. Here is what you need: Scrap paper Hot glue gun 1" Circle punch Foam cone (at most craft stores) Toothpicks Note:  You are going to go to the craft store to buy the little foam cone and you will see styrofoam glue and you will think to yourself that would be a good thing to buy for this project.  Don't!  I got the styrofoam glue and it didn't work at all.  Just go with your trusty glue gun, it won't let you down. I think it's pretty self-explanatory by looking at the picture.  You just punch circles out from the scrap paper.  Then hot glue th...

The End of the Road

There is a time when things fulfill their purpose and that is how I've been feeling with this blog of mine. When I started it, I needed my own little spot to share my thoughts and random stuff I found online. However, having two blogs has become excessive. It has been a good run (me and this little blog) and thanks for joining me. For now on, I will just be posting on my family blog . It's a private blog, but send me a message or a request if you would like to view it. Thanks to those who have taken the time to read my silly thoughts or look at pictures of my cute kiddo or some craft I made. It means a lot to me. Signing off, Jannifer

The Christmas Box

Remember how forever ago I said I would post a tutorial on how to fold these cute boxes.  Sigh, life is busy.  But I am here to fulfill my promise, even if it is a bit belated.  We had a Super Saturday at church with classes we could take.  My awesome friend, Becky, taught us how to create these, so I give her all the credit. What you need, paper, scissors, ruler pencil and some type of adhesive. 1.On the blank side of your paper draw an X from each corner, using a ruler. 2. Fold the bottom corner to the  center. 3. Fold the bottom corner one more  time up to the center. 4. Now you are  going to do the exact  two folds from steps 2 and 3 to the  opposing top corner, so your  paper will look like this. 5.  Unfold your paper and make the same folds to left and right corners that haven't been folded yet.  So once again, fold the point to the middle. 6.  Do a second fold to th...
