Sharing Time

I keep on running into things here and there online and in the real world that I think, hmmm, I should share that on my blog. Consider this my personal Sharing Time, which quite honestly is every post.

  • First, Opening Song of the post. Remember how I love Andrew McMahon, front man of Something Corporate, then front man of Jack's Mannequin, then kicked cancer and is just plain cool.  He released an EP all on his own.  This my favorite song from it.  It just makes me want to dance, which I do in my chair at work, unashamedly so.  (I'm not going to admit how many times I've listened to this song on repeat.)
  • Talena shared this article with me and I found it so interesting.  It's pictures of what a weeks worth of groceries looks like from countries around the world.  Fascinating.  What a consuming country we are.
  • Danny and I rented the movie "The Impossible" this week from redbox.  Many of you may have already seen it, but if you haven't, you should. Oh my goodness, so intense. It made me cringe and cry, but man I love movies that show the importance of family. I sure love mine.
  • I saw this on pinterest and I thought of Danny's family.  Y'all should do this! They are the most amazing speed scrabble players I know. (Yes I did just say "y'all" because I love my Southerners.)
  • Lastly, Closing Song for this post.  I really love Imagine Dragons' new music video.  I've already loved this song for awhile, but man what a good reminder.  We have no idea what other people are going through.  Let's all be a little more kind.

  1. A giant scrabble game! Now that sounds like fun.
Grampa and I watched The Impossible this weekend. The story is inspiring and would have been even better if they had left in the deleted scene of helping others. Its always refreshing to learn of people that have taken the time to be kind even when they themselves are struggling.

Oh Crafty Trees, Oh Crafty Trees...

I've become a finals widow, if you will, meaning Danny is crazy busy trying to finish up the semester.  This has given me extra time to use my crafty skills to get our place Christmas ready.  My first creations were these little paper/foam trees.  I've seen a few variations online of this craft. I put my own little twist on it.  They are really easy to make, just takes some time. Here is what you need: Scrap paper Hot glue gun 1" Circle punch Foam cone (at most craft stores) Toothpicks Note:  You are going to go to the craft store to buy the little foam cone and you will see styrofoam glue and you will think to yourself that would be a good thing to buy for this project.  Don't!  I got the styrofoam glue and it didn't work at all.  Just go with your trusty glue gun, it won't let you down. I think it's pretty self-explanatory by looking at the picture.  You just punch circles out from the scrap paper.  Then hot glue th...

Birthday Week!

This week is my birthday week, or should I say birth week.  However that sounds too much like birthing is occurring and that is not the case.  (Don't get any ideas, Danny and I have only been married for 5.5 months.)  Anyway, I firmly believe in celebrating birthdays for the whole week, because why not? Talena and I have a tradition each year that is the kick off for my birthday celebration.  You see, Talena and I were born 12 days apart.  On the midpoint day between our birthdays we go out to dinner to celebrate.  We always try to go some where we have never been before.  This year we went to the Citrus Grill, which was very delicious.  (Special thanks to Eliza for recommending the place.)  We had fun dining, laughing and sharing secrets, because that is what girls do. My dinner...doesn't it just make your mouth water. Talena Balena and Me. PS  We did have a funny little mishap with the dessert.  We got strawbe...

8 Months!

Smiling at Daddy Showing Mr. Lion who's boss. Milestones: New food this month: Carrots, Peas, Oatmeal, Prunes, Green beans, Squash He's really interested in making different noises and sounds with his mouth. I feel like he is watching us intently trying to figure it out. ("It" meaning talking.) He hasn't started to crawl yet, but he has gotten up on all fours. He finally rolled from his back to his stomach. He's been rolling the other way for months now. He doesn't like being on his stomach, so he avoided rolling to that position for a really long time. First St. Patrick's Day, because that's a big deal. Likes: At the beginning of the month, he liked to grab my face and bring it really close to his and yell. Apparently, it is a fun game. His favorite toys are his toy guitar from his Aunt Michele, his toy car from his Aunt Katie and Uncle Tim and he really likes his stackable rings. The vacuum. It is a fascinating specime...
