Weekend Highs and Lows

  • Danny got me a pre-Valentine's bouquet on Friday, because I had such a hectic week last week.  How sweet.
  • Friday night = Date night
  • Sleeping in on Saturday.
  • I got to video chat with Melina, my wonderful friend that is living on the other side of the world right now.
  • Visiting my mom and dad.  Plus, I left with so many gifts ranging from small appliances to sheet music.  Well, I have to give the sheet music back.
  • Game night at Mary's!  Danny's uncle was in town, so we all got together.  The nephew and niece (JM and Lady L) were super cute that night as well.  We had fun.
  • Remember how my old ward was dissolved last year?  Part of my calling is visiting different wards in our stake and I got to go to the ward that took in half of my old ward.  I was so happy to see old friends and some of the kids I taught in primary.
Lows
  • Since I had such a hectic week last week (many nights I didn't get home until 10pm) I was super cranky on Friday night. Poor Danny.  I got better as the night went on.
  • You know when you go to a new place to eat and you really want to like it, but than it disappoints?  We went to Flatbread Neapolitan Pizzeria, that just opened up in the area a week ago.  Our pizza came completely charred black on the bottom.  We should have complained, but we had waited long enough for our food that we didn't want to wait  any longer.  Maybe we will give it another try, in hopes for a redeeming experience, but hard to say.
  • I'm going to sound a bit unneighborly.  For the past couple months, the apartment next door which we share a wall with has been vacant.  On Saturday morning we woke up to a moving truck outside our door.  We have new neighbors, whom I'm sure are very nice.  However, I've been reminded how much you can hear next door, sigh. 
  • Sunday = so many meetings, so many.

    I know what you mean about the neighbors. We were spoiled when the neighboring house was vacant for over a year. But just so you know, the two nights you were here the dogs were barking because it was garbage day; they're not always that bad. I hope you'll get used to your new neighbors. Who knows? You may need to borrow some sugar one day!

      Our neighbor seems to be pretty cool. I haven't met him, but Danny has. I hear his music every once in awhile, but it seems he has good taste in music, so I don't mind too much.

Oh Crafty Trees, Oh Crafty Trees...

I've become a finals widow, if you will, meaning Danny is crazy busy trying to finish up the semester.  This has given me extra time to use my crafty skills to get our place Christmas ready.  My first creations were these little paper/foam trees.  I've seen a few variations online of this craft. I put my own little twist on it.  They are really easy to make, just takes some time. Here is what you need: Scrap paper Hot glue gun 1" Circle punch Foam cone (at most craft stores) Toothpicks Note:  You are going to go to the craft store to buy the little foam cone and you will see styrofoam glue and you will think to yourself that would be a good thing to buy for this project.  Don't!  I got the styrofoam glue and it didn't work at all.  Just go with your trusty glue gun, it won't let you down. Birthday Week!

This week is my birthday week, or should I say birth week.  However that sounds too much like birthing is occurring and that is not the case.  (Don't get any ideas, Danny and I have only been married for 5.5 months.)  Anyway, I firmly believe in celebrating birthdays for the whole week, because why not? Talena and I have a tradition each year that is the kick off for my birthday celebration.  You see, Talena and I were born 12 days apart.  On the midpoint day between our birthdays we go out to dinner to celebrate.  We always try to go some where we have never been before.  This year we went to the Citrus Grill, which was very delicious.  (Special thanks to Eliza for recommending the place.)  We had fun dining, laughing and sharing secrets, because that is what girls do. Half Birthdays are for Celebrating, part 2

I know what you are thinking, "Jannifer, do you really need to have two posts about your half birthday?"  The answer is yes, because it just made sense to split the post in half considering the topic.  So during the day at work on the day of celebrations, I found I had to watch hours of HR videos which needed very little attention to understand.   (That's a nice way to say they were really boring.)  So with my other half of wandering attention I decided to start searching YouTube for some new tunes.  Especially since I remember I still had a partial Amazon gift card that I could buy some music with.  I turned to some of my wise music friends who were online for their suggests.  They led me to some sweet songs which are now part of my collection.  A little half birthday gift to me and since I like to be giving, I shall share some of their suggestions with you.
