Friends, it has been awhile since I’ve given an update. I hope everyone had a great 4th of July. We had a fun, long weekend full of hiking (get this, my left leg is sore, but not my right…weird), BBQ, Transformers 3 (it was lame, really lame) and let’s not forget, fireworks!
Also, this weekend I taught Sunbeams, a first for me. It isn’t my calling, but they needed a sub. I have darling nieces and nephews in that age group, but I was still so nervous. Teaching Relief Society or Sunday School, no problem. Primary is a whole new ball game. To overcome my fears, I called my very clever sister Michele, who is the Sunbeams teacher in her ward. She gave me some great ideas (thanks Michele) so I felt well equipped for the lesson. Something I learned, an activity you think will take 5 minutes, really will only take 30 seconds with 3-4 year olds. We had extra time after the lesson and multiple activities, so I taught the kiddies London Bridges. The little girls in the class loved it and the little boy just sat and colored, fine with me. Overall: Success.
In other news, Danny and I found a new apartment and we are moving to in a few weeks. We are both thrilled. While we like our place right now, this new apartment is cheaper and bigger. Plus it has a few amenities that we don’t have right now…
*Dishwasher (Yay)
*Air conditioning (Double Yay)
*A little backyard (I’m so getting a hammock, it is all I’ve ever wanted.)
*Covered parking
We are very eager to move in and will be scouring for deals on furniture and a washer and dryer for the place. I came across this blog, which is getting me so excited for decorating.
Lastly, I’ve become a little addicted to pinterest.com. My sister Michele introduced me to it a few weeks ago. It is a fun little website that is like a virtual pin board for things you like online. You can see what your friends are pinning as well. Since my friends have very good taste, it is a place for all pretty things and mouthwatering recipes.
It seems funny to me that you would be nervous about teaching Primary, especially since you are so good with kids. I started out in Primary and got really nervous the first time I had to teach RS. I wish you could work in my Primary. The kids would love you!
