Random Online Finds for the Week

#1:  SniqueAway - Traveling is one of my loves, saving money is one of my other loves.  Because of this, I've joined all the travel websites that send out alerts for different deals that are going on.  SniqueAway is a new on.  It is like a Groupon, but for hotels.  It let's you buy hotel stays for half the price.  While I don't really have the vacation time or money to go on a trip right now, I do like looking at all the offers and think of all the places I could be going.

#2:  Free E-Valentine's - Just in time for the love holiday!  There are a few sites that let you send free e-valentine's, but this one is my favorite.  It has many unique options.  I sent the burro one to Danny because it made me laugh really hard.  He liked it. :)

#3:  Fashion Color Secret Society:  This is where the random from the title of the post comes in.  (Just know I find random things interesting.)  Did you know there is a secret society that decides the trend of colors for the next season for fashion?  According to research, this group's influence decides the color of about half of the clothing sold in the US.  That means half of your wardrobe, if not more, was decided by this group.  Even the top fashion designers are within this society's control and follow the colors they decide.  Ok, maybe no one else cares, but I found this color control kind of bizarre, probably because I find the fashion world a little bizzare.

  1. that is so weird about the fashion color SS. I remember when Lizzy was a baby and wearing this pink and brown outfit someone said to me, that must not be a hand me down from Lydia because those colors weren't in style then. So true. Finally an explanation for this.

  2. Well, you can see color styles come and go: 50's it was red and gold, 60's it was pink and turquoise, 70's Harvest Gold, Avocado, Rust and Brown, 80's beige, maroon pale pink and blue in all that country stuff, etc. But guess what? When you wear old clothes or make your own from fabric you acquired years ago you don't have to feel that you are controlled by 20 secret people in Europe!

Oh Crafty Trees, Oh Crafty Trees...

I've become a finals widow, if you will, meaning Danny is crazy busy trying to finish up the semester.  This has given me extra time to use my crafty skills to get our place Christmas ready.  My first creations were these little paper/foam trees.  I've seen a few variations online of this craft. I put my own little twist on it.  They are really easy to make, just takes some time. Here is what you need: Scrap paper Hot glue gun 1" Circle punch Foam cone (at most craft stores) Toothpicks Note:  You are going to go to the craft store to buy the little foam cone and you will see styrofoam glue and you will think to yourself that would be a good thing to buy for this project.  Don't!  I got the styrofoam glue and it didn't work at all.  Just go with your trusty glue gun, it won't let you down. I think it's pretty self-explanatory by looking at the picture.  You just punch circles out from the scrap paper.  Then hot glue th...

The End of the Road

There is a time when things fulfill their purpose and that is how I've been feeling with this blog of mine. When I started it, I needed my own little spot to share my thoughts and random stuff I found online. However, having two blogs has become excessive. It has been a good run (me and this little blog) and thanks for joining me. For now on, I will just be posting on my family blog . It's a private blog, but send me a message or a request if you would like to view it. Thanks to those who have taken the time to read my silly thoughts or look at pictures of my cute kiddo or some craft I made. It means a lot to me. Signing off, Jannifer

Blogging is still cool, right?

I woke up this morning missing my blog. My very early 2000's blog. I had one called The Life of Jannifer during my 20's/single years. Then I had this one from 2010 - 2015 during my early married years. Then I have a website janniferwood.com where I tried to show I'm a serious writer. I still have that website and I'm still trying to show that I'm a serious writer. However, I missed my place of silliness, this little blog. Or I miss being younger, one of the two. Why not post after 7 years?  Also, I find the title of this blog funny because there are a select few people in my life who call me Jan. Most of them are family members or old friends. The even rarer is Janni, which is reserved for some of my nephews and a few other loved ones. My given name, Jannifer, is usually what I go by, but this also tends to be the most confusing for some reason. That whole A and not E throws people. So, I'll stick with Jan on this one.
