4 Months!

Milestones

  • Baby H went on his first road trip! We visited his Aunt Michele, Uncle Dan and his cousin Princess C. He did great in the car, but not so great sleeping in a new place.
  • He's now grasping things, like his blanket, toys and mommy's hair.
  • He's getting better at sitting up with help.
  • Had his first laugh. Well kind of, he isn't much of a laugher. I should say his first chuckle. He gives little chuckles when he is amused and when he's excited he squeals really loud.
  • Stats from his 4 month appointment:
    • Length - 23.25 inches (.93 percentile - an increase from .19 percentile, yay!)
    • Weight - 13 lbs 4.5 oz (9.32 percentile)
    • Head Circumference - 16.25 inches (37.17 percentile)
    • Still my little baby

Likes

  • Having his head brushed. I would say hair brushed, but he doesn't have a lot of that.
  • Playing Superman, meaning I fly him around and sing the theme song to superman, very entertaining.
  • He also likes to be bounced up and down, which has become a great arm work out for me.
  • Talking. He really seems to enjoy having cooing conversations, especially when he is suppose to be going to bed. Sometimes he will coo along to music; it is adorable.
  • His hands and sucking on those hands.
  • Looking at himself in the mirror. I don't think it can be considered vanity when he doesn't realize it is his reflection looking back.

Dislikes

  • A stuffy nose, which has been brought on by the change to cold weather. No fun at all. (However, his little sneezes are so darn adorable.)
  • I should also add the nose sucker we have to use when his nose is stuffy. He's getting pretty good at hitting it out of the way.
  • Still fights sleep every. single. night. (I'm tired.)

A Few Tidbits

  • Enjoyed his first Halloween. He dressed up as a Jack-o-lantern.
  • Also experienced his first Thanksgiving, well kind of. He couldn't actually partake of the Thanksgiving feast, but he had fun watching his cousins run around.
  • He slept through the whole night for the first time (midnight to 7am). However, he hasn't done that again. Instead we have hit some sort of sleep regression where he wakes up every 2 hours. This has not been my favorite. (4 month sleep regression is a real thing, Google told me so.)
  • His favorite toys right now are rattles and his little stuffed monkey.
  • While he likes to sit up, he isn't interested in rolling over right now. We've rolled him over to show him what it is like and he looks at us like we are crazy.
  • Nicknames: Baby (which he responds to as his name), Little Baby, Chunk-a-chunk, Chunk-a-monk, Little Mister, Pumpkin, Little Boi (Danny's name for him)
That's a wrap, until next time.

Comments

  1. Four month sleep regression is absolutely a thing! I think we had one night of a ten hour stretch last month but now we're back to every three-ish hours. And Carter regressed at four months too. Sigh. Time to sleep train for us, which I hate, but it makes life so much better.

Oh Crafty Trees, Oh Crafty Trees...

I've become a finals widow, if you will, meaning Danny is crazy busy trying to finish up the semester.  This has given me extra time to use my crafty skills to get our place Christmas ready.  My first creations were these little paper/foam trees.  I've seen a few variations online of this craft. I put my own little twist on it.  They are really easy to make, just takes some time. Here is what you need: Scrap paper Hot glue gun 1" Circle punch Foam cone (at most craft stores) Toothpicks Note:  You are going to go to the craft store to buy the little foam cone and you will see styrofoam glue and you will think to yourself that would be a good thing to buy for this project.  Don't!  I got the styrofoam glue and it didn't work at all.  Just go with your trusty glue gun, it won't let you down. I think it's pretty self-explanatory by looking at the picture.  You just punch circles out from the scrap paper.  Then hot glue th...

Birthday Week!

This week is my birthday week, or should I say birth week.  However that sounds too much like birthing is occurring and that is not the case.  (Don't get any ideas, Danny and I have only been married for 5.5 months.)  Anyway, I firmly believe in celebrating birthdays for the whole week, because why not? Talena and I have a tradition each year that is the kick off for my birthday celebration.  You see, Talena and I were born 12 days apart.  On the midpoint day between our birthdays we go out to dinner to celebrate.  We always try to go some where we have never been before.  This year we went to the Citrus Grill, which was very delicious.  (Special thanks to Eliza for recommending the place.)  We had fun dining, laughing and sharing secrets, because that is what girls do. My dinner...doesn't it just make your mouth water. Talena Balena and Me. PS  We did have a funny little mishap with the dessert.  We got strawbe...

One of Those Nights

You know the time when you turn the corner too sharp and gouge one of your toes on the retro 70's border that lines your home and apparently you have really good blood circulation in your feet, because your toe starts bleeding profusely.  In an effort to stop the bleeding, you limp to the kitchen to grab a paper towel to clean up your poor toe only to track blood all over the carpet.  (But then, luckily the husband comes and helps clean up the blood trail, your sad, little toe and gets you a band-aid.)  So once you have recovered from your messy injury, your really nice husband makes you a smoothie to make you feel better, only for you to drip it down the front of you on one of your favorite shirts.  Yeah, it's been one of those nights.  Sigh. In other news, last week I went to the musical "Little Women" with Talena.  I wrote a review for the Utah Theater Bloggers Association, which you can read here .  It's been awhile since I've done any reviewin...
