I'll Raise Your Death Cab for a Cutie

I now have an awesome story for all you fine readers.  Once upon a time that was a girl named Jannifer (me) who was really bored and wasting time on Facebook.  I was scanning through my news feed (and FB stalking all you good people, come on you all know you do it too) when I came across a post from a local radio station.  It was a free giveaway for concert tickets to Death Cab for Cutie.  All you had to do was comment on their post.  What did I have to lose?  So I posted the following comment:

"Ooo, my husband and I were introduced to each other through friends at a Death Cab concert.  I love them for multiple reasons now!  Pick me. :)"

I kind of forgot about the contest.  However, almost a week later I received a Facebook message in my inbox from the radio station saying that I had won!  Hooray!  I think it was the smiley face in my message that got them.  It always pays to be nice.  I was so delighted, because I never win anything.  (My best bud Talena pointed out that everyone who wins something says that.  Now that I've actually won something, I'm not allowed to say that anymore.)

On the day of the concert, Danny and I embarked on our (free) Death Cab for Cutie experience.  We had some weird moments during the evening (a woman with a Russian accent demanding we pay high amounts of money for parking, Danny coming down with the sniffles and so forth), but the actual concert was awesome.  Death Cab played a lot of songs that I love oh so very much, such as "I Will Follow You into the Dark", "Cath", "Titles and Registrations" and more.  Below is a sweet taste of the concert, enjoy Death Cab for Cutie performing "I Will Possess Your Heart".

The first time Danny and I saw Death Cab for Cutie we didn't say much to each other but simple hellos and polite get-to-know-you questions.  Oh how little did we know at the time what it would lead to.  We talked a lot more the second time around.

PS  Our seats were up in the balcony, which was pretty much empty.  But
I liked it that way, because I'm slightly anti-social (in the shy way, not in
the criminal mind way) and I preferred not being around the big crowd below.

Oh Crafty Trees, Oh Crafty Trees...

I've become a finals widow, if you will, meaning Danny is crazy busy trying to finish up the semester.  This has given me extra time to use my crafty skills to get our place Christmas ready.  My first creations were these little paper/foam trees.  I've seen a few variations online of this craft. I put my own little twist on it.  They are really easy to make, just takes some time. Here is what you need: Scrap paper Hot glue gun 1" Circle punch Foam cone (at most craft stores) Toothpicks Note:  You are going to go to the craft store to buy the little foam cone and you will see styrofoam glue and you will think to yourself that would be a good thing to buy for this project.  Don't!  I got the styrofoam glue and it didn't work at all.  Just go with your trusty glue gun, it won't let you down. I think it's pretty self-explanatory by looking at the picture.  You just punch circles out from the scrap paper.  Then hot glue th...

The End of the Road

There is a time when things fulfill their purpose and that is how I've been feeling with this blog of mine. When I started it, I needed my own little spot to share my thoughts and random stuff I found online. However, having two blogs has become excessive. It has been a good run (me and this little blog) and thanks for joining me. For now on, I will just be posting on my family blog . It's a private blog, but send me a message or a request if you would like to view it. Thanks to those who have taken the time to read my silly thoughts or look at pictures of my cute kiddo or some craft I made. It means a lot to me. Signing off, Jannifer

Things that brought me joy this week

This past week was Melina's birthday!  Since she lives far away, Talena and I put together a hula party in a box and mailed it to her.  We found all of these treasures at the dollar section at the front of Target.  My favorite moment was when we heard a lady gripe about how the discount section was full of a bunch of useless stuff that no one would buy.  At that very moment we turned the corner, with our hand basket full of awesome stuff we had found.  We just smiled. The party supplies The party agenda I was having a bit of a low evening and Danny suggested we go get my latest craving Sonic blasts.   (Ice cream + candy + whipped cream.)  I know you aren't supposed to feed sorrows with food, but this particular evening I made an exception.  Whoever made that Sonic blast was heaven sent.  It had more Reese's peanut butter cups than actual ice cream.  It's like they sensed my heavy heart and tried to heal it with choc...
