February on Instagram

Feb. 10th - Sometimes he puts his hand on top of mine when we read books and I think it is the  sweetest thing on earth. Feb. 13th - Cutest face in all the place. Feb. 18th - We have had  unseasonably warm weather this winter, so we went to the park with some friends. Baby H was rather fascinated by this thing we call grass. Feb. 23rd - Sweet potatoes are for wearing, not for eating. Feb. 27th - We went to Houston for Danny's brother's wedding. We spent a lot of time in the car, but were delighted by this lovely sunset one evening while driving on the interstate. Feb. 28th - The Grandma, Daddy and Baby and also quite possibly one of the best photo bombs I've seen by Danny's brother Nathan. Feb. 28th - All dressed up for the reception. PS Bow ties are cool.

7 Months!

Milestones Baby H is sitting up like a champ. He's tried a few more different types of food: Sweet Potatoes, Avocados, Apple Sauce and Pears He turns pages in his books and he grabbed the spoon and fed himself the other day. He has just started to wave at people. First time on an airplane! Overall, he handled it really well. First time to a new state, which was Texas. (It was my first time to Texas too.) We went for Danny's brother's wedding. Likes He is really liking his little jumper activity center. He doesn't really jump in it, though. He more tries to walk and is bounced around. His toes! And putting those toes in his mouth. Grunting, yelling, making noise in general. He can be a very loud baby. He thinks it is hilarious when I pretend to eat his hands. FaceTime! He's grabs for my phone all the time now if he sees it. He's especially liking books this month. When he's sad, we sit down and read a few, and it calms him down. He li...

Gratitude

In my ward (church congregation) there are a lot of young families, I mean A Lot . I think there are over 200 kids in our ward. Church services are a bit noisy, but you get used to it. I mean, Mormons are known for getting married young and having lots of kids. That is where Danny and I don't exactly fit the mold in this neighborhood. The other day I went visiting teaching and found myself talking to two other young moms. We talked about child birth and sleepless nights. One of the moms has three young kids. The other has a little toddler. The one girl asked the other with 3 kids how old she was. She responded 26. The girl with the toddler said, "I'm 25, I feel so behind!" Then she asked me how old I was, "31," I said with a smile. They didn't really say much to that and continued the conversation. Can I just say in that moment how happy I was that I didn't feel panicked or felt like I was "behind". Let me make it clear, I have nothing...

The Nursery and Hawaii

Wow, I received a whole lot of love on my last post. Thank you, kind people. I appreciate the validation. We are doing well. Baby and I are becoming more accustomed to our new lives together. Baby is a very cute little buddy I get to hang out with all day. So if in my last post I seemed, I don't know, overwhelmed (because I was) , just know I feel like we are making progress. I've been meaning to share these pictures of the baby's room forever ago (ok, like a month).  My mom and I worked frantically on his room while I was in the middle of having contractions a few days before Baby made his arrival. I was quite pleased how it all turned out. Special thanks to my sisters who created the wall decor. We will get a crib once he gets a little bigger. The changing table. We spend a lot of time here. The toys, which I'm sure he will enjoy all in good time. In other news, I've decided my little family and I need to move to Hawaii. I know we just bought a ho...

The Birthday

It's the last day of my birthday month, so maybe I should post about my birthday celebration. It was a party, to say the least. However, I have to admit turning 31 was harder than turning 30. I think I was mentally prepared for saying goodbye to my 20's. However, 31 has been a shock because apparently I'm just supposed to keep on getting older. Weird. Also it was fun/slightly scary to turn the age where I'll become a mom. On My Birthday... Danny definitely spoiled me this year. He actually gave me little presents each day of my birthday week, because he knows how I love to extend celebrating birthdays. The day before my birthday, we got take out and watched the movie The Book Thief which was very well done and as expected, very sad. On the day of my birthday, I opened presents and then we went out to dinner at The Garden on Temple Square. Danny and I took a walk around temple square and then went to the the Salt Lake Temple. We found that evening was reserved for ...

Feb. 9th - Because I find Baby C eating yogurt incredibly adorable. I think you will agree. Feb. 14th - Danny's valentine, I thought it was fitting. Feb. 25th - I had a photo shoot out at Antelope Island, which was just gorgeous.  I'm loving the mild weather we had this month.

The Grand St. George Getaway

Last weekend (since it was a long weekend) , Danny and I headed down to Southern Utah.  It is one of our places of choice when we need a break.  Luckily my sister lives down there and she and her husband are always so kind to let us stay with them.  The weather was perfect.  It felt wonderful to not have to wear a jacket.  We had lots of fun going on little hikes and walks, eating good food and watching the Olympics in the evening.  It was the perfect break, I just wish it was longer! Petroglyphs! In our effort to enjoy the beautiful weather, we went on a little hike to see the petroglyphs just outside of St. George.  I'm not sure the official name of the petroglyphs; I just found directions by googling "Ivins Petroglyphs".  It warned on the website that some of the petroglyphs were real and some weren't, but since I can't really tell the difference, I took pictures of everything! Danny, king of the mountain. Petroglyphing. Multipl...
