My future cottage in France... a girl can dream!

The other day I read this article about how necessary it is for your brain to take breaks and vacations so you don't burn out and this article about how the U.S. gives the least vacation time compared to the rest of the world and I realized my deep down need for vacations isn't just a lazy desire but is actually good for my brain health.  I'm constantly saving up my vacation time to get away.  When I'm out of vacation time, I research places I would like to visit and plan fantasy vacations.  Now don't get me wrong, I do enjoy my job.  I'm a lucky girl to get to work where I do, but everyone needs time to relax.

In the second article it shares that France guarantees 6 weeks of vacation as a minimum.  I can't even fathom 6 weeks of vacation time, it sounds like heaven.  When I got home that evening I announced to the husband Danny that I wanted to move to France.  His response was to sing, "I'm Proud to be an American".  I too am proud to be an American; however, I think Americans could follow the example of our European friends and get a little bit more of a break to lower our blood pressure.

While I'm not big on politics, here is my proposal. To all those who are throwing their hats into the Presidential Race o'Fun, if any of you can get me even 4 weeks of vacation time, I will vote for you.  Not just that, but I will also campaign for you.  (*Romface, Hunty, I'm totally talking to you my Mormon buddies...even though Hunty, you're a little confused about that right now.)  Just think about what a happier place this nation would be.

*(Nicknames for Mitt and Jon were made up by my cousin Julia, not me.  But I liked them.)

    I agree that it would be awesome if a candidate campaigned on an issue like that! How could we make that work here in America?

    Very interesting articles Jannifer. I don't think you have to go to a foreign country to get a different culture! For me vacations are usually more stressful than being at home. I guess it all depends on what your work is. I think variety is the key. Work hard cleaning out the garage, then be pensive in the garden. Hassle with a bunch of Cub Scouts and then work on my rag rug.
    As for Huntsman, he's too vague for me. And I doubt vacation time will be a hot issue as long as our economy is so bad.

I've become a finals widow, if you will, meaning Danny is crazy busy trying to finish up the semester.  This has given me extra time to use my crafty skills to get our place Christmas ready.  My first creations were these little paper/foam trees.  I've seen a few variations online of this craft. I put my own little twist on it.  They are really easy to make, just takes some time. Here is what you need: Scrap paper Hot glue gun 1" Circle punch Foam cone (at most craft stores) Toothpicks Note:  You are going to go to the craft store to buy the little foam cone and you will see styrofoam glue and you will think to yourself that would be a good thing to buy for this project.  Don't!  I got the styrofoam glue and it didn't work at all.  Just go with your trusty glue gun, it won't let you down. The End of the Road

There is a time when things fulfill their purpose and that is how I've been feeling with this blog of mine. When I started it, I needed my own little spot to share my thoughts and random stuff I found online. However, having two blogs has become excessive. It has been a good run (me and this little blog) and thanks for joining me. For now on, I will just be posting on my family blog . It's a private blog, but send me a message or a request if you would like to view it. Things that brought me joy this week

This past week was Melina's birthday!  Since she lives far away, Talena and I put together a hula party in a box and mailed it to her.  We found all of these treasures at the dollar section at the front of Target.  My favorite moment was when we heard a lady gripe about how the discount section was full of a bunch of useless stuff that no one would buy.  At that very moment we turned the corner, with our hand basket full of awesome stuff we had found.  We just smiled.
